A lot of teenagers and even older persons are influenced by the change of our society especially the change of how people use language in communicating to others. Is being a conyo a good habit or not?

        
          “ If I get takot, would you hawak me tight? If I make mistake, would you make it right? If I build an apoy , would you bantay the flame? If I said I miss you, would you ramdam the same? ” These are some words that teenagers are using as their way of communication. Conyo words is used in the Philippines as a semi- derogatory term for people who seem to be high classic and vain or conscious about their social status.

           Technologies help us to make our life easier, it helps us to be more creative and it gives new information to us. With the used of new technologies and internet, youth in this generation can create and created new things and new trends that can upgrade the used of our communication. I have noticed a lot of youth using conyo words in social media, even actors and actresses and also senators used this kind of communication and it questioned me why do people rambled different kinds of words and languages if they can use it in one language.

Laziness

             As for my own perspective, conyo builds new attitude towards our personality and that is being lazy. They are lazy for using different kinds of words and languages to shortcut the communication, they are lazy to correct their own grammar, they are lazy to construct correct sentences and some, they applied it for not to be left out of the trend.

Advantages and Disadvantages

             What are the advantages and disadvantages of using conyo? The use of conyo words in today's generation has advantages.

·         It can help you explore new words. With the knowledge of conyo words, it would not be difficult to understand such terms.

·        It is a practice of saying words with accent and applying correct pronunciation.

·         It’s an exercise for your mind to construct new words.

On the other hand the disadvantage of using conyo words.

·         It affects children’s learning and development.

·         It can also promote cyber bullying especially for teenagers.

·         As for students it can affect their grammar especially in English.

·         It can also affect our own languages, and it shows disrespect to our country.

·         Teenagers will be addicted and will use conyo words to communicate to other people.

              Though conyo words have much positive process, it has more negative consequences, especially for the teenagers.

            

              Yes, we can try to use conyo words but we have to limit ourselves, it may just be fun but we don’t know what will be the consequence of it. We should be aware of what is happening around us especially in social media. Let’s not be blind and be tempted and just throw away the lessons that we learned. Let’s be creative and trend something new in a good way. Let’s make our country the best out of it.
